Fountains Abbey

The Visualising Heritage group have been working at one of Yorkshire’s most iconic archaeological sites for a number of years. Working with the National Trust’s archaeologist, Mark Newman, we have used research priorities at the site in order to train the next generation of archaeologists. This has been done alongside a network of colleagues (Geoscan Research, Guideline Geo and Magnitude Surveys) who have provided time and expert advice to the project and students. 

Fusing both above ground and below ground digital data we have provided detail on the burial ground to the west of the church, as well as demonstrating the location of massive structures further down the valley.
